Tanzanite

Named by Tiffany & Co after its country of origin, Tanzanite is the blue variety of the gemstone Zoisite.  This extraordinary gem was discovered in the late 1960s, and to this date it is only found in one place: the Merelani Hills of Tanzania.  Tanzanite is usually found in small pieces with yellow and brown streaks.  Large crystals are rare.  When heated, the yellow and brown colors disappear, leaving behind the blue-violet shades, sometimes with red flashes.  Its value on the Moh’s Hardness scale is 6.5-7, and while it is often used in jewelry, Tanzanite should be handled with care.  Due to increasing rarity and trade regulations, Tanzanite’s value has increased rapidly since 2003 and continues to rise.

Not only is Tanzanite valued for its rarity and beauty, it is also quite valuable metaphysically.  Tanzanite links the energies of the mind and heart and generates an aura of happiness and relief from troubles.  It opens the Heart, Throat, Third Eye, Crown and Soul Star chakras.

This Tanzanite crystal is of exquisite quality, weighing 2 grams and measuring about 1/2" by 3/8" by 1/4". It has a well-formed termination, with nice deep color. A great collector's piece, and equally perfect for wire-wrapping!

Lemurian Seed Quartz

These Lemurian Seed Quartz crystals are found only on a mountaintop in Diamantia, Brazil. Strangely, these quartz crystals are found not attached to quartz clusters in the mine, but they are found loose in beds of sand. Legend has it, these wondrous little stones were actually grown by the inhabitants of Lemuria, a fabled ancient lost continent thought to have sunk in the South Pacific between North America and Asia/Australia. It is believed by many that Lemurian Seed Quartz helps us uncover the lost knowledge of this advanced civilization.

Lemurian Seed Quartz

6 inches by 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches

0.65 pounds

This piece is self-healed, meaning it has tiny terminations at just above the base of the crystal where it has been broken from the matrix, and then has "healed" the break by growing new crystal points.

Lemurian Seed Quartz with Phantom

6 1/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches bi 1 1/2 inches

0.60 pounds

This extraordinary piece is very clear, with a perfect white phantom. A phantom quartz crystal is a clear quartz that exhibits within the crystal body a white outline of a smaller version of the same crystal. This image is the "footprint" of an earlier stage in the crystal's growth, at which point the white material was deposited, before the crystal began to grow again. The formation of phantoms is rarely found in Lemurian Seed Quartz. This piece also has a faint pink cast.

Heliodor

Heliodor is the golden yellow variety of Beryl, in the same family as Emerald, Aquamarine, and Morganite. It has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 and a hexagonal crystal system. Heliodor's first recorded discovery was in 1919 in Namibia and other localities include Brazil, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Russia.

Metaphysically, Heliodor is a stone of knowledge and learning, as well as true nobility and leadership. It is also a stone of self-confidence and optimism. It is associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra.

This Heliodor has Muscovite crystals growing on one side, which shine through on the other side of the crystal. A nice chunky crystal with bright golden color, this specimen weighs 24 grams, and measures about 1" by 1" by 1/2".
